Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Union Station Little Rock plus a couple of photos on September 4th at Pine Bluff and Peter Smykla, Jr's Paperton Junction Southern Railroad, currently not running excursions but our club had our annual Arkansas Railroad Club picnic there. Peter loves Alcos. Unusual at Union Station on Sunday was a chance photo of passing coal trains, one with lead unit UP 6439 and one with DPU UP 6438, side by side passing. Couldn't plan that if I wanted.  Also today CNW/UP Patched Operation Lifesaver 6703.  To contact me: EMAIL

Southbound loaded coal train meeting a northbound empty train.

A rarity in the same photo! The empty coal train on the left heading south (away) had DPU UP 6438 on the rear while the loaded coal train on the right heading toward me (north) had UP 6439 on the lead. How's that for planning?
